Membership in the San Juan Capistrano
Historical Society gives you the quarterly Journal, information
on activities and events of the Society, and the satisfaction knowing
you are helping to preserve the past for future generations. Membership
dues are a major source of income for the Society and help to continue
its programs, operate and preserve the O'Neill Museum, and continue
to collect and add to the historical archives.

Like any good organization, the San
Juan Capistrano Historical Society can always use volunteers to
help in a number of activities. Just to name a few areas that we
need experienced help or people who would like assist, are as follows:
– Learn about the history of this community and its
many historic structures and lead visitors around center of town
to tell about our community. No experience required. You will be
trained.
– What is really needed is someone with “Photo
Shop” computer program experience to help enhance many of
our huge collection of very old historic photos.
–
We have a small library of over 500 books, both fiction and non-fiction.
These need to be organized in a proper manner for researchers to
easily find what they are looking for. We are building a collection
of books relating to local and California history.
– We can always use volunteers to assist our Museum Secretary
to show visitors our museum and answer questions. Hours available
Tuesday through Friday and/or for short periods on weekends.
– Our Curator could use volunteers with curator experience
to assist and develop layout of our museums. Besides the O'Neill
Museum we are developing two more old historic homes into additional
museums adjacent to the O'Neill Museum.
– Anyone with oral history experience to do interviews would
be most welcome.
